These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Uganda Gorilla Permits Booking’s services and apply to every permit booking enquiry submitted through this website. By submitting an enquiry or making a payment, you agree to the terms below.
1. Our Role
Uganda Gorilla Permits Booking is a permit-booking agency. We source and secure genuine Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation permits for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park on behalf of our clients. We are not a general tour operator, and we do not sell multi-day safari packages, transport, or lodging.
2. Permit Availability
All permits are subject to real-time availability with UWA. Submitting an enquiry does not reserve or guarantee a permit. We check availability for your preferred date and your two alternative dates, then confirm back to you in writing before any payment is requested. Permit numbers per park, per day are limited by UWA and can sell out, particularly in the June-September and December-January peak periods.
3. Pricing
Permit prices are set by UWA and are correct at the time of publishing but can change without notice. Standard gorilla trekking permits are currently $800 per person (foreign non-resident), $700 (foreign resident), and UGX 300,000 (East African citizen) in peak season, with reduced low-season rates in April, May and November. The gorilla habituation experience is $1,500 per person (foreign non-resident) and UGX 750,000 (East African citizen). We always confirm the exact, current price with you before you pay.
4. Payment
Once your permit and price are confirmed, we will send secure payment instructions. A permit is only purchased from UWA, and only considered secured, once we have received your payment in full. We do not store or process card details on this website.
5. Refund Policy
Because permits are purchased from UWA in your name, they are non-refundable once purchased. If UWA itself cancels or is unable to honour a permit due to circumstances within its control, we will work with you and UWA to secure an alternative date or pursue any refund UWA policy allows. We are not able to offer refunds for personal circumstances, missed travel, or change of mind after a permit has been purchased.
6. Rescheduling
Date changes may be possible before a permit has been purchased from UWA, subject to availability, and we will always try to accommodate a change of date at this stage at no extra charge. Once a permit has been purchased in your name, rescheduling is at UWA’s discretion and may not be possible.
7. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate traveller details (full name, nationality, and passport number) exactly as they appear on your passport, as UWA issues permits to named individuals. You are also responsible for your own travel insurance, visas, vaccinations, and fitness to trek. Trekkers must be aged 15 or over, per UWA policy.
8. No Sighting Policy
UWA ranger-guides locate a habituated gorilla family on the large majority of treks. In the rare case that a group does not see gorillas, UWA’s re-trek voucher policy applies, and we will assist you in applying for it. We do not independently guarantee sightings, as this is ultimately determined by wild animal behaviour.
9. Limitation of Liability
Uganda Gorilla Permits Booking’s liability is limited to the permit-booking service we provide. We are not liable for losses arising from third-party services (airlines, lodges, other tour operators), events outside our control (including park closures, weather, or government action), or a trekker being refused entry by UWA for failing to meet health, age, or documentation requirements.
